If I had been asked what would matter the most to me when I was a little girl growing up as the only American in a German school, I would never have answered other children. My mother cared for little kids in our over-crowded home for 30 years and my father was a professor for 25 years. I did not want their life. Yet, here I find myself hopelessly in love with kids.
I have four of my own children (Ryan 20, Nick 20, Drew 19, and Josh 15) and have four stepchildren as well (Jennifer 21, John 19, Jaime 17, Jordan 12). Alongside of that tremendous gift, daily I am also blessed with my students in my classroom. I have taught for 12 years. Three years in 2nd grade, five years in 5th grade and the last four years in 4th grade.
I completed my Bachelor in Education from Texas A&M. Having such amazing resources here in Plano, Texas I have always wanted to share the wealth of knowledge with others less fortunate and when I was presented with Teach with Jamaica I could not wait to be of assistance. My specialization in college was Reading, however, Math has become my passion. Again, as a child it was my worst subject. I have learned that precious rewards come to me when I least expect them and from very unlikely sources, however, I always follow God’s call. I again pray to impact and be impacted in an enthusiastic and positive way with this wonderful ministry! Two years ago this experience with Teach with Jamaica broadened my love for mission work and with great happiness I am once again part of this amazing gift.
