My name is Beth Hubbard and I teach at Aldridge Elementary School in Plano ISD. This is my ninth year in education, and I’ve taught both 3rd and 4th grades. This is my second year as a literacy specialist and I am truly enjoying the challenges and being able to work with all students, K-5, as well as all the wonderful teachers on the campus.
Before beginning my career in Plano, I attended Texas Tech University where I graduated in May of 2002. After three years in the classroom, I decided to start working on my masters. I graduated with a masters degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Texas in May of 2009. I am truly a lifelong learner!
I was honored as the 2007 Plano ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year for the Plano Independent School District, as well as the 2003 Beginning Teacher of the Year at Christie Elementary. During the five years I spent in 3rd grade, I was the grade level team leader. I’ve also been involved in curriculum writing and training at the district level.
When I first heard about Teach with Jamaica, I truly felt like it was something I was called to do and experience. This will be my second trip and I’m anxiously waiting being able to collaborate with the teachers from Jamaica. Education is such a powerful tool and I’m thrilled to be a part of such an inspiring organization.
