My name is Shreya Desai. I have had the privilege to teach for almost 10 years. I have enjoyed teaching students with disability from a structured classroom to a resource classroom in all elementary grades. Teaching so long, I have seen my students from having no exposure to academics to learning to read, write and appearing for state testing. Many of my students did not have any speech when they started with me and over the years they have come back to see me from middle school talking and able to sustain a short conversation with me. That is the greatest gift to me of all when that happens.
My philosophy of teaching has two main facets. First, I firmly believe in and teach by the adage “It takes a village to raise the child.” Second, I strive to make every child successful through by providing a safe, loving environment filled with lots of fun and laughter, taking each child from where they are, and to instilling in them the motivation to become successful life life-long learners.
I have been married for 15 years to my wonderful husband and have been blessed with two beautiful daughters- one in 7th grade and one in 4th grade.
I enjoy painting, cooking, dancing and singing. But my greatest passion to facilitate independence in students with disability and seeing them succeed in life.
“Children are an inspiration; each holds promise for our future. They supply us with endless rays of energy, enthusiasm, warmth, and hope to keep us going.”
